Digital Forum Announced | Strasbourg Event Cancelled

The SPIE Photonics Europe in-person meeting and exhibition is cancelled. The conference programme will now be transitioning to a Digital Forum.

After announcing postponement, SPIE reached out to our event leadership, volunteers, and the hosting facility to organize an event at a future date. The only available dates conflicted with important European optics conferences so we’ve reached the difficult conclusion to cancel the SPIE Photonics Europe 2020 meeting and exhibit.

Though we are unable to meet in person, we will request authors pre-record their presentations for an online SPIE Photonics Europe to be held 6-10 April 2020. Over those days, you will be able to watch and listen to recorded presentations on-demand and submit written questions; authors will be asked to check in periodically and respond to your questions. All authors, presenters, and attendees will receive instructions for this new format shortly.

Registration fees for the technical programme and short courses will be automatically refunded – please allow us 15 days to process these refunds. If you prefer a credit, email your request to customerservice@spie.org by Friday 20 March – after that date we’ll begin processing all registrations as refunds. Responses may be delayed, but every effort will be made to handle requests as soon as possible.

The scientists and engineers in our field are making great progress and advances, and we look forward to sharing the latest research gathered for presentation at Photonics Europe, via the SPIE Digital Library. Watch for more updates and reminders as Photonics Europe Digital Forum approaches.

Coronavirus and Traveling to Strasbourg, France

SPIE has been closely monitoring the global health and transportation situation related to COVID-19 since the outbreak first began in late 2019. SPIE Photonics Europe is officially postponed.

The health and safety of our community is of utmost importance to us and our hearts go out to those being affected by the current outbreak.

SPIE is actively working with our event leadership, volunteers, and the hosting facility to organize an event at a future date and will be reaching out to all authors, exhibitors, and registered attendees with more info very soon.
